Kanibek Tumanbaev, the head of the president's office, visited the State Center for Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing, where the procedure for replacing licenses is taking place.
He explained the reasons for the replacement of indefinite licenses.
According to Tumanbaev, "the old driver's licenses do not have a digital format and are not recognized in some neighboring countries, which creates difficulties when using these documents abroad. Therefore, for citizens planning to use their licenses outside of Kyrgyzstan, transitioning to the new samples is a necessary step for legalization and compliance with modern international standards."
Moreover, the old indefinite licenses have insufficient security measures. Many of them contain outdated photographs, which complicates the identification process and increases the risk of misuse, as the documents may be used by other individuals. The new samples have improved security features, which helps to avoid such situations and facilitates the work of road safety officials.
Tumanbaev also urged citizens to follow the established rules to avoid crowding:
- citizens whose driver's licenses are not digitized and not registered in the "Tündük" system must come in person to replace their documents;
- citizens whose licenses are displayed in the "Tündük" system can apply for a replacement online without visiting the center.
At the same time, the option to replace driver's licenses through the "Tündük" portal is currently unavailable.
