He reminded that currently, the exchange of old-style licenses is being carried out free of charge.
“A period of one month has been allocated for this, and if someone does not manage to do it within the specified period, there will be an opportunity to extend the deadline,” he added.
Orunbekov also reported that to simplify the exchange procedure, the requirement to provide a medical certificate of form 083, which was previously mandatory, has been canceled.
“Why is the replacement important? In the past, there were many cases of forgery of old-style driver's licenses. Moreover, there is now information about the continued production of such documents in Moscow. Many of the old licenses already have damaged photos and worn-out inscriptions,” he emphasized.
Old driver's licenses are not recognized abroad.According to Orunbekov, new licenses are recognized in a number of countries, where they can be used without restrictions.
“The new licenses will be digital, which will eliminate the possibility of document forgery. Upon completion of the exchange process, all old licenses will become invalid,” he added.
It is important to note that the exchange is free and does not require the provision of additional documents.
