In Kyrgyzstan, screening examinations are planned to assess the level of lead in the bodies of children, both in prosperous and disadvantaged regions.

This initiative has become part of the activities outlined in the National Development Program until 2030, which was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The screening will cover preschool children and primary school students, starting from the fourth quarter of 2026 and ending in the fourth quarter of 2030.

According to the plan, the goal is to conduct comprehensive examinations for at least 90% of children in the specified age groups across the country. Based on the collected data, a comparative analytical report will be prepared to assess the level of lead in children's blood and its impact on their health.

The screening will be conducted every five years, with a focus on children whose blood lead levels exceed 5 µg/dL.

Funding for the initiative will be provided from the republican budget, as well as through partnerships in the development sector.
