The book "The Mongol Storm: The Creation and Destruction of Empires in the Medieval Middle East" examines how the Mongol invasions radically altered the balance of power in the Middle Ages.

Throughout history, the Crusades significantly influenced events in the Middle East; however, they are only part of a more complex picture. As the book "The Mongol Storm" shows, during this same period, the region underwent transformation due to another series of military conflicts—the Mongol invasions.

Within a generation, the Mongols captured vast territories in the Middle East, changing the geopolitical landscape of the region. As a result of the chaos from the Mongol attacks, historical powers such as Byzantium, the Seljuks, and the Crusaders found themselves fighting for survival, while new forces, such as the Ottoman Empire, began to emerge to counter these threats. The Mongols forever altered the reality of the region, strengthening connections between different cultures and peoples of Eurasia.

This book provides a detailed analysis of the Mongol attacks on the Middle East and their long-lasting consequences for the entire world.
