Boris Titov emphasized that India could become an important partner for Russia in addressing the issue of labor shortages. He noted that interest in Indian specialists in Russia is growing. If in 2022 about 8,000 work permits were issued for Indian citizens, then in 2023 this figure increased to more than 14,000, and in 2024 it is expected to reach 36,000. For 2025, the government's quota for visa-required countries will be nearly 235,000 places, of which about 30%, or 71,800, will be allocated for Indian workers.
“Specific numbers are not yet known, but it is assumed that they will not be less than 40,000,” Titov added in his comment to “RIA Novosti”.
According to Boris Titov, Indian workers have significant experience in various fields, including construction in Dubai. He also noted that labor migration is an important source of foreign currency inflows for India, with remittances from abroad expected to reach $129 billion in 2024.
