In the Marmolada area, where women's alpine skiing competitions are held near Cortina d'Ampezzo, two avalanches occurred. Rescuers found the body of one of the men who was skiing with a group of three skiers at the summit of Punta Rocca, which is located at an altitude of 3,300 meters in the Marmolada massif — the highest mountain in the Dolomites.
Additionally, two more skiers died in Albosaggia, a small village in the lower part of Valtellina, about 65 km east of Bormio, where men's alpine skiing competitions are also taking place.
