The U.S. State Department ordered diplomats to leave Saudi Arabia

According to an order dated March 8, this applies to those who are not engaged in urgent matters, as well as to the family members of diplomats, as stated in a release published on March 9.

Earlier, on March 3, these categories were advised to leave the country on a voluntary basis.

The State Department also reiterated its strong recommendation for Americans to reconsider their travel plans to Saudi Arabia, citing potential threats such as the risks of Iranian drone and missile attacks, as well as possible armed conflicts, terrorism, and exit restrictions related to local laws.

Since the beginning of the conflict with Iran, which has been ongoing since February 28, Saudi Arabia has repeatedly become a target for Iranian retaliatory actions. On March 3, two drones attacked the U.S. Embassy building in Riyadh. According to representatives of the Saudi Ministry of Defense, a "limited fire" occurred as a result, and the damage was assessed as minor. However, according to information from The Washington Post, the building sustained significant damage, including the collapse of part of the roof and a fire inside.

Americans were advised to immediately seek shelter in safe places and avoid visits to the diplomatic mission until further notice.

Additionally, Iran also attacked American embassies in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Baghdad.
