Zelensky: Negotiations with Russia and the USA postponed to next week

Ukrainian President noted that the meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday in Turkey, was postponed due to the conflict in the Middle East.

“We were ready to go to Turkey, however, the meeting was postponed. The American side suggested holding it next week. This is the information we have at the moment,” Zelensky said in response to journalists' questions online.

He also added that Ukraine is negotiating daily with representatives of the USA and expressed hope for determining a new date for the meeting.

Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the US president, confirmed the information about the new round of negotiations next week in an interview with CNBC. “We notice that both sides are tired of the conflict, and we hope this could be the beginning of a turning point,” he noted.

At the same time, Russia has not provided any comments regarding the postponement of the meeting.

Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine, Russia, and the USA have held several rounds of negotiations, starting in January and continuing in early February in Abu Dhabi. Then, meetings took place in Geneva in mid-February, and a new round was planned for early March in Abu Dhabi.

After the onset of the conflict between the USA and Israel with Iran, Zelensky reported the need to postpone the new round of negotiations due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
