Against the backdrop of the ongoing war, Donald Trump's team, the President of the United States, has begun to explore possible scenarios for peace negotiations with Iran. This is reported by Axios, citing information from an American official and sources close to the discussions.

On March 20, Trump noted that he is considering the possibility of "rolling back" military actions, although Washington suggests that conflicts may continue for another two to three weeks. In this situation, the president's advisors are trying to lay the groundwork for a diplomatic approach.

Axios reports that Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff could serve as potential representatives in the negotiations. Among the conditions that Washington would like to see in a potential agreement are the restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, addressing Iran's stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, as well as long-term arrangements regarding the nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and support for armed groups in the region.

According to Axios, there have been no direct contacts between the U.S. and Iran recently. However, messages between the parties have been conveyed through Egypt, Qatar, and the United Kingdom. Iran has expressed interest in dialogue but has set strict conditions, including a ceasefire, guarantees that the war will not resume, and compensation.

The publication also reports that the Trump administration is considering six commitments that the U.S. would like to obtain from Iran. These commitments include a five-year halt to the missile program, zero uranium enrichment, dismantling reactors in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, strict external monitoring of centrifuges, regional arms control agreements, and cessation of funding for groups such as Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas. However, it is worth noting that Iran has previously rejected some of these demands.

Washington also does not rule out the possibility of a deal that could be framed as the return of frozen assets to Iran. Additionally, Trump's team is trying to determine who in Tehran makes key decisions and which country could serve as the best mediator for possible negotiations.
