According to the victim, he fell prey to a scam amounting to 5 million 500 thousand soms. The perpetrator, who called the man, introduced himself as the vice-mayor of the capital and suggested contacting a city hall employee. When the victim made a return call, he was informed that he was speaking with representatives of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), claiming that his money had been transferred to the accounts of a financial terrorist group. Convincing the man to transfer his funds to a “safe” account, the fraudsters disappeared.
This case was recorded in accordance with Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning fraud.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained three suspects: M.B., born in 2001, and A.u.I. and A.u.N., both born in 2004. All of them were placed in custody.
