Gulnara Bazhkenova, the editor-in-chief of "Orda," has become the subject of investigations: several criminal cases have been initiated against her, as reported by KazTAG.
The press service of the Almaty police department confirmed that criminal cases were opened based on received complaints. "On the facts of repeated and intentional dissemination of knowingly false information regarding the editor-in-chief of the resource O., citizen B.," the police stated in response to a KazTAG inquiry on Monday.
Law enforcement agencies noted that "a detailed verification of the statements is being conducted within the framework of investigative actions."
In particular, the police pointed to one of the publications from 2024, where false information was spread about the alleged detention of a law enforcement representative for accepting a bribe. It was established that such an incident did not occur, and Bazhkenova's actions created a false impression of the professional activities of the mentioned employee, which harmed his reputation. Another article presented distorted data about the amounts and reasons for damages in a property dispute, which also misled the public and negatively affected the reputation of the claimant.
According to the police, "an investigation is currently underway regarding other complaints from victims concerning publications from previous years that may contain misleading information."
Investigative activities are taking place at the residence and workplace of Gulnara Bazhkenova. Electronic devices and materials are being seized to clarify the circumstances of the preparation and publication of knowingly false information, as well as their origin. The investigation is ongoing, and all details will be established within the framework of the law.
