A man was detained in Kazakhstan for frying chicken on the Eternal Flame

In Ridder, police were able to identify the man who was frying chicken on the Eternal Flame located at the Glory Obelisk. They analyzed footage from surveillance cameras, interviewed witnesses, and checked the surrounding area. As a result, a 31-year-old local resident was detained. The reasons for his actions remain unknown.

Now the man will face charges under part 4 of Article 434 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which provides for punishment for petty hooliganism and desecration of objects of public significance. The court has already sentenced him to five days of administrative arrest. The regional police emphasized that both administrative and criminal liability is provided for the destruction of monuments and objects of historical value.

The incident became known after a local resident posted photos on December 4 showing pieces of fried chicken placed on the Glory Obelisk, erected in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. She expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of the monument and called on the authorities to find those responsible. Soon after, municipal services cleared the area of snow and promised to remove the traces of ash from the Eternal Flame.

By the way, in the spring of 2024, police in Pavlodar detained a man who, while intoxicated, damaged the star of the Eternal Flame at a similar memorial. The restoration of the monument took only one day. In the autumn of the same year, a vandal was found in Zerende who desecrated the memorial to participants of the Great Patriotic War.
