The children with various injuries were hospitalized
In the Zhambyl region, an investigation has been initiated into the incident involving children falling from the window of a multi-story building in Taraz, reports Tengrinews.kz.
The mother of the injured children, who threw her children from the fifth floor, is under investigation.
In connection with the incident, a pre-trial investigation has been launched. The woman has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The police have not yet clarified the familial relationship between the suspect and the children.
According to the press service of the Zhambyl region police department, "two minors (a boy and a girl) were sent to the hospital. Currently, necessary investigative actions are being carried out. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the case, an appropriate procedural decision will be made in accordance with the law," said representatives of the law enforcement agencies.
According to Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, additional details of the case are not subject to disclosure at this time.
As reported by the regional health department, the children, aged five and three (born in 2021 and 2023), were hospitalized with closed traumatic brain injuries and acute brain swelling.
The boy born in 2021 was also diagnosed with a closed fracture of the femur with displacement. Both children underwent CT scans of the brain, chest, and pelvic bones, and they also had a laparocentesis performed. The operation to reduce brain swelling has already been completed, the medical management reported.
An operation to correct the femur fracture is also planned for the child born in 2021.
It is worth noting that in 2025, a similar tragic incident occurred in the Pavlodar region. In the summer, in one of the residential buildings, a woman threw her two young sons out of the fifth-floor window and then jumped down herself.
All three were taken to intensive care with serious injuries. The one-and-a-half-year-old child died two days later, while the older boy survived.
It later emerged that the woman had been registered with a specialized medical organization. A criminal case was opened for the facts of murder and attempted murder of minors.
By court decision, the mother was found to be insane and was exempted from criminal liability, being ordered to undergo compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital with intensive supervision.
