
The incident occurred after the publication of a video that sparked widespread public outcry and dissatisfaction among local residents. In response, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan initiated a criminal case and held the bloggers accountable for petty hooliganism.
Deputy Prosecutor General Galymzhan Koigeldiev noted that the police also launched an investigation under Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, concerning incitement of interethnic hatred.
After the scandal, both bloggers acknowledged their mistakes and apologized for their statements. The specialized inter-district administrative court of Almaty ruled to detain them for 15 days.
These statements provoked a strong backlash among the citizens of Kazakhstan.
