Foreigners detained in Georgia while attempting to purchase nuclear materials for $3 million
In Kutaisi, Georgia, law enforcement authorities detained two foreign nationals who attempted to acquire uranium and the radioactive substance cesium-137 for $3 million. This was reported by Lasha Magradze, the First Deputy Head of the State Security Service of Georgia.

According to Magradze, the investigation revealed that the detainees had repeatedly traveled to Georgia in recent weeks with the aim of organizing the purchase and transportation of nuclear and radioactive materials to another country.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under the article concerning "illegal handling of nuclear materials or devices, radioactive waste, and substances" according to the Criminal Code of Georgia.

In total, over the past day and a half, as a result of a special operation in various regions of the country, 29 individuals have been detained who are involved in 13 criminal cases.
