A Girl's Leg Was Amputated. Why a Nephrologist Was Detained in Bishkek

The Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek commented on the incident involving the detention of nephrologist Nasira Beishebaeva, who works at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, according to information from 24.kg.

According to the press service, on August 28, 2025, a woman named Z.S. contacted law enforcement with a complaint about a possible medical error that occurred at the NCMMH.

In October 2024, nephrologist N.B. provided medical assistance to a minor, K.A., born in 2011, resulting in improper treatment that led to serious consequences — the amputation of the girl's right leg.

In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under the article concerning the improper performance of professional duties by a medical worker, resulting in negligent serious harm, according to the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.

Based on the results of forensic medical examinations, charges were brought against the detainee. The nephrologist is in custody at the temporary detention facility of the capital's Main Internal Affairs Department, and the investigation is ongoing.

Recently, it became known about the detention of nephrologist Nasira Beishebaeva, and details of this case have been covered in the media. The staff of the NCMMH appealed to President Sadyr Japarov with a request for an objective and comprehensive investigation, taking into account all legal norms.
