The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the detention of two new suspects related to the case of mass riots.

On February 9, information appeared on social media and in the mass media that 75 citizens had appealed to President Sadyr Japarov and Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu with a request to hold new presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan. This appeal, it was stated, was signed by representatives of the scientific community, former prime ministers, former deputies, and activists. As a result of the investigation, three politicians were detained.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that such actions could provoke political tension and public discord, as well as threaten the stability and internal unity of the country.

The investigative service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case based on the signs provided in part 1 of Article 278 of the Criminal Code, concerning "Mass Riots".

During the investigative actions, two citizens were identified and detained, who are suspected of being initiators and active participants in this crime: A.K., born in 1966, and K.A., born in 1968. They have been placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The suspects are accused of organizing mass riots and other illegal actions. Searches were conducted in their homes.

It is likely that the initials A.K. and K.A. refer to Kursan Asanov, former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, and Aaly Karashev, former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh.
