On February 11, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported the detention of three politicians on charges of organizing mass riots.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that on February 9, information appeared on social media and in the media that 75 citizens, including representatives of science, former prime ministers, former deputies, and public figures, had appealed to President Sadyr Japarov and Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu with a request to hold new presidential elections in the country.

The agency noted that some formulations in this appeal caused "widespread discussion" among the population and contributed to the escalation of the socio-political situation. In this regard, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case under Article 278, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning the organization of mass riots involving violence and other criminal actions.

As part of the investigation, all 75 individuals who signed the appeal were brought to the Investigative Service. As a result, the initiators and active participants of the alleged crime were identified — these are citizens T.B. (born in 1955), U.E. (born in 1955), and D.K. (born in 1960), who were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

Searches were conducted at the residences of the detainees.

According to preliminary data, the initiators of the appeal are the coordinator of the "People's Parliament," former head of the Prime Minister's Office Bekbolot Talgarbekov, former ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan Emilbek Uzakbaev, and former authorized representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jogorku Kenesh Kurmanbek Dyykanbaev.
