On her social media page, Karasartova noted that, according to the law, prisoners have the right to a 15-minute phone call with relatives once a week; however, this right, she claims, is not being fulfilled.
The press service of the State Penitentiary Service responded to Karasartova's accusations, refuting her statements.
Representatives of the agency explained that upon admission to SIZO, prisoners are informed about their rights and obligations, as well as the rules and regime of the institution. They stated that citizens sign documents acknowledging receipt of this information.
The press service also clarified that excerpts from the internal regulations are posted on information boards in the cells where the accused are held.
The State Penitentiary Service emphasized that it operates in accordance with current legislation and is ready to defend its position in court.
