Did not pay alimony and ended up in prison: a resident of Jalal-Abad was sentenced to two years

The court changed the measure of punishment, replacing probation with actual imprisonment

The Judicial Enforcement Service under the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan reports an important court decision regarding a notorious alimony debtor. Citizen T.Sh.A., who has been evading mandatory payments for the support of his child since 2018, was arrested right in the courtroom.

As of March 2025, his debt had reached 700,000 soms. The first-instance court had assigned him probation supervision, but on February 26, 2026, the Jalal-Abad Regional Court reviewed the case.

The judges decided that such a lenient punishment was insufficient and issued a sentence of two years of imprisonment for the debtor.

The Judicial Enforcement Service emphasizes that persistent evasion of parental responsibilities leads to criminal liability.
