It is worth reminding that last summer, Mambetaliev was found guilty of legalizing (laundering) large criminal proceeds, as well as participating in a criminal organization. He was previously sentenced to nine years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony, with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions for three years. The punishment will begin to be served from August 10, 2024.
Among the confiscated property was the recreation center "Edelweiss," located in the village of Ornok, as well as various movable and immovable property.
Erkin Mambetaliev, a former employee of the State Guard Service and personal bodyguard of ex-president Almazbek Atambayev, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court in 2008 for complicity in the murders of police colonel Chynybek Aliyev and deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Jyrgalbek Surabaldiyev, among others. However, after the events of April 2010, he was released due to newly discovered circumstances.
Subsequently, his name repeatedly surfaced in the context of criminal authorities such as Ryspek Akmatbaev and Kamchi Kolbaev. In August 2024, Mambetaliev was detained in a case involving participation in an organized criminal group. In September, the State Committee for National Security transferred his assets, valued at approximately $5.7 million, to state ownership.
