According to information provided by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the control system at the capital's airports has filtered out one in ten migrants over the past year. This figure was announced during a report on the activities of the city government.

According to the mayor, the biometric system, which has been operational since December of last year, prevented the entry of approximately 45,000 individuals into Moscow's airports. This accounts for about 10% of the total number of foreign citizens arriving to work in the city.

“We have created a biometric system at the Moscow aviation hub, which started operating in December. Over the past year, it has filtered out approximately 45,000 people, which is about 10% of all unique migrants arriving to us,” he noted, adding that the system helps identify undesirable individuals attempting to enter the capital. Additionally, at the exit stage, the system monitors migrants who have committed crimes.

“This system serves as a barrier to the entry of those who are not welcome in our territory, who are listed as undesirable citizens,” emphasized the Mayor of Moscow.
