In an interview provided to the publication "Kabar," the minister noted that diseases can be classified into acute ones, such as injuries and heart attacks, and chronic ones that last for a long time.

According to him, there are virtually no countries in the world where the healthcare system does not face problems.

Checheybaev also emphasized that patients more frequently seek medical assistance at ages under 6-7 years and after 65, while visits in the age range between these two are less common. However, the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the necessity for the continuous development of the healthcare system. "Chronic diseases can be controlled, and that is what we need to achieve with medicine as a whole," he added.

The minister also noted that there are chronic diseases that can be cured and those that cannot.

He provided his own example, mentioning that he suffers from hypertension and takes a pill daily to control his blood pressure. "I will say it straight: it is impossible to cure the entire system, as new challenges arise every day. Of the 100% of funds allocated for healthcare, 95% is spent on treatment, while only 0.5% is spent on prevention," Checheybaev concluded.
