Kokpar Included in the Program of the World Nomad Games - 2026
At the VI World Nomad Games, which will take place in 2026 in Kyrgyzstan, two traditional equestrian sports will be featured: Kyrgyz kok-boru and Kazakh kokpar. This was announced by Kazybek Moldazhiyev, head of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports.
According to him, the decision to include both sports was made to prevent possible misunderstandings and disagreements among the participating countries. The organizers aim to create an inclusive and balanced program that reflects the diversity of nomadic culture.
Moldazhiyev also noted that the management of the World Nomad Games adheres to the principle of the apolitical nature of sports. The competitions should serve as a platform for cultural exchange, mutual respect, and the preservation of historical traditions, rather than a subject of conflict.
It is expected that the participation of both forms of the popular equestrian game will attract the attention of both athletes and spectators, becoming one of the central events of the Games.
