The Cabinet proposes to extend the ban on the import of electronic cigarettes for another six months

- The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has presented a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On the Introduction of a Temporary Ban on the Import of Electronic Cigarettes into the Territory of the Kyrgyz Republic" for public discussion.

Let us remind you that starting from July 1, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a temporary ban on the import of electronic cigarettes for a period of six months. Now, the possibility of extending this ban for another six months is being considered.

The initiator of this proposal is the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

According to the draft resolution, it is proposed:

To ban the import for a period of 6 months:

— electronic cigarettes and nicotine delivery systems with nicotine liquid in one unit (EAEU HS code 2404 12 000 0);

— nicotine-containing liquids in cartridges, tanks, and other containers for electronic cigarettes (EAEU HS code 2404 12 000 0).

— Additionally, the Ministry of Economy is tasked with notifying the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) about the introduction of the ban, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to inform the Executive Committee of the CIS. The State Customs Service and the Border Service must take measures to prevent the illegal import of the mentioned goods. Control over the implementation will be carried out by the Department of Control over the Execution of Decisions of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Presidential Administration.
