On the occasion of Information and Press Day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic held a special reception, where Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev congratulated representatives of the media on their professional holiday.

- Dear colleagues! This day reminds us of the importance of journalism not just as a profession, but as a responsible mission. Your efforts as journalists, editors, and operators shape public opinion by providing reliable information about the life of our country. The media truly serves as the fourth estate and reflects the diversity of social processes. It is impossible to imagine an open and democratic state without you, - he emphasized.
Jeenbek Kulubaev also noted that the history of Kyrgyz media is a journey from the first printed publications to modern digital platforms.

- In the context of global challenges, your role becomes particularly significant, including aspects of foreign policy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs views the media not only as observers but also as strategic partners. Your activities contribute to the transparency of diplomatic work and shape the image of Kyrgyzstan on the world stage, - added the minister.

Kulubaev highlighted the successful foreign policy initiatives of the country. He reminded that the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border with Uzbekistan has been completed, and work with Tajikistan is in its final stages. According to him, this is an important step towards peace and security in the region, and journalists played a key role in covering these events.

The minister also reported that Kyrgyzstan has established diplomatic relations with 185 countries, including recent contacts with Papua New Guinea, the Bahamas, South Sudan, Tanzania, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Currently, the country cooperates with 125 international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, SCO, and CIS.

President Sadyr Japarov's speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly attracted significant interest on the international stage, and Kyrgyzstan's position on important issues of sustainable development and security was supported by the global community.

- We are actively promoting Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027-2028, which reflects our readiness to take a more active and responsible position on the world stage, - noted the minister.

Among other achievements, he highlighted the completion of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the Organization of Turkic States and the holding of the first meeting of the heads of government and vice presidents of the member states of the OTS. The embassy of Ethiopia was also opened — the first diplomatic representation of Kyrgyzstan in Africa.

- To date, there are 50 diplomatic missions operating in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. We continue to expand our cooperation, including new directions in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. This year, the first official visits to Bahrain and Egypt took place, as well as the visit of the Slovak Foreign Minister to Kyrgyzstan, - added Kulubaev.

He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan will be in the spotlight of the global community in the coming years, as major international events such as the sixth World Nomad Games and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit will be held in 2024-2027.

- The success of these initiatives depends on your professionalism. It is through your publications that the image of modern Kyrgyzstan — hospitable and dynamically developing — will be projected on the international stage, attracting investments and tourists, thereby strengthening our positions in the world. You are our main ambassadors in the global information space, - concluded the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
