Differences in phytosanitary certificates and accompanying documents caused the delay.

Recently, 56 tons of onions that arrived from Kazakhstan could not be imported into Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

The incident occurred on March 9, 2026, when the cargo was attempted to be passed through the road checkpoint "Ak-Tilek." However, employees of the Chuy-Bishkek Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine identified discrepancies in the information on the phytosanitary certificate and transport documents.

The agency explained: "According to paragraph 3.7 of the Regulations on the Procedure for Quarantine Phytosanitary Control on the Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, approved by the Decision of the Customs Union Commission on June 18, 2010, No. 318, the import of this batch of products into the Kyrgyz Republic was not permitted, and the cargo was returned to the sender."

The Ministry also emphasized the importance of strict adherence to phytosanitary standards when importing agricultural products.
