About 35 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan are at risk of deportation from Russia

The minister emphasized that many citizens have been proactive and managed to check their data in the registry, which allowed them to legalize their stay in the country. For this, migrants were given an additional deadline. Nevertheless, Kulubaev noted that some citizens are still listed in the registry and are subject to deportation. He also mentioned that there is a possibility of easing Russia's migration policy, as there is a shortage of labor in the country.

Furthermore, the minister added that the return of labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan would also benefit the country itself, as a workforce is needed for the implementation of several projects. He reminded that the 90/180 days stay rule continues to apply in Russia, and it is important for Kyrgyz migrants to monitor compliance with these requirements.

From 2024-2025, Russia has strengthened its migration laws: since February 5 of last year, a registry of individuals under migration control has come into effect, and being included in it entails serious restrictions on rights. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of early January 2025, over 608 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan are outside the country, of which 376,907 are registered in Russia.
