Starting from September 1, 2025, updated rules regarding the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan will come into effect, as reported by the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

These changes are based on the new regulation concerning the stay of foreign citizens, which was approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic under number 541 on October 10, 2023.
What should you know?
• Visa-free period — 90/180.
Citizens of Kazakhstan will be able to stay in Kyrgyzstan for a total of up to 90 days within a 180-day period, starting from the date of their first entry.

• How the duration is calculated.
All used days are summed up and are not reset with each border crossing. A new count begins only after an uninterrupted absence from Kyrgyzstan for at least 90 calendar days.

• Registration.
Registration at the place of stay is not required for the first 30 days of stay. If a citizen stays longer than this period, registration is necessary.

• Responsibility for violation.
If a foreigner stays in the country for more than 90 days without registration, they will be prohibited from entering Kyrgyzstan for a period of 90 days in the future.

• Extension of stay.
Legal stay can be extended if there is registration, a residence permit, a temporary residence permit, as well as other documents provided for by international agreements.
Representatives of the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic noted that similar rules apply in Kazakhstan regarding citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
