Starting from September 1, 2025, updated rules regarding the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan on the territory of Kyrgyzstan came into effect. This was reported by the press service of the Border Service of the State National Security Committee on January 15.

The innovations are based on the Regulation on the procedure for the stay of foreign citizens, which was approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 541 dated October 10, 2023.

According to the new conditions, citizens of Kazakhstan have the right to stay in Kyrgyzstan without a visa for up to 90 days within every 180 days, starting from the date of their first entry. It is important to note that previously used days do not reset and are counted with each border crossing.

The counting of the stay period restarts only if the citizen of Kazakhstan has spent a continuous 90 calendar days outside the Kyrgyz Republic, as clarified by the Border Service.

Additionally, it is noted that during the first 30 days of stay, Kazakhstani citizens are exempt from mandatory registration. However, if they plan to stay in the country longer than the specified period, registration is required.

If a citizen of Kazakhstan remains in Kyrgyzstan for more than 90 days without registration, their next entry will be limited to a period of 90 days.

Extending the legal stay period is possible with one of the following documents: registration at the place of stay, residence permit, temporary residence permit, "Kairylman" status, "Meken-kart," "Resident-card," as well as other documents provided for by international agreements to which the Kyrgyz Republic is a party.

The Border Service also noted that similar rules apply in Kazakhstan regarding citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
