Uzbekistan is strengthening the security of its state border by deploying a unit equipped with Bayraktar drones manufactured in Turkey. This information was announced by the Chairman of the State Security Service (SSS) Bakhodir Kurbonov at a Security Council meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He noted that the modernization concerns not only aviation: 42% of the border length is now covered by video surveillance systems, and over 1,100 kilometers of fiber optic communication lines have been laid along the borders. The border troops are now almost fully equipped with modern weapons and armored vehicles, and the supply level of electro-optical devices has reached 78%.
The State Security Service has also reorganized aviation security, taking international airports in the country under protection. For this purpose, the "Lochin" team has been updated, receiving nearly one hundred units of new specialized equipment. The successful implementation of new security measures in Tashkent is planned to be extended to all airports in the republic by 2026. These innovations have already significantly reduced the number of violations at the border, and the effectiveness of confiscating contraband has increased by 20%.
The report also addressed issues related to countering major threats such as terrorism, drug trafficking, and corruption. Bakhodir Kurbonov reported that in 2025, special services prevented 11 attempts to organize terrorist acts both within the country and abroad. However, the situation with illegal drug trafficking raises concerns: the volume of seized drugs increased from 1.7 to 3.6 tons, and the number of discovered underground laboratories has doubled. Attention is being focused on combating synthetic drugs and psychotropic substances, the volumes of confiscations of which are measured in hundreds of kilograms.
Internal security is also being strengthened through the fight against corruption. In 2025, anti-corruption measures led to the dismissal of 1,083 civil servants, of whom 661 were prosecuted for bribery and abuse of power. Thus, the comprehensive modernization of Uzbekistan's law enforcement agencies is aimed at creating a multi-level defense against internal and external threats.
