At the meeting, Kurbonov noted that the new unit will perform combat duty using Bayraktar drones.
Additionally, he spoke about the large-scale modernization of the border security system: currently, 42% of the state border is equipped with video surveillance, and 1117 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines have been laid. Modern drones are now also in the arsenal of border guards.
According to information from the National Security Service, the border troops are equipped with armored vehicles at a level of 98%, watercraft at 88%, and weapons and ammunition at 100%. Electronic-optical means account for 78% of the necessary amount. The intensity and quality of combat training have also significantly improved.
The National Security Service is now responsible for the security of international airports, including the reorganization of the "Lochin" brigade with a complete update of its armament and replacement of about 100 units of equipment. A new security system has been implemented for the "Tashkent" and "Tashkent-Humo" airports (formerly known as "Tashkent-Eastern"), which will be applied in all airports across the country by 2026.
At the meeting, Kurbonov also presented information about key threats to Uzbekistan. According to him, the main risks include terrorist acts, cross-border threats, drug trafficking, and corruption.
In 2025, 11 terrorist acts planned both within the country and abroad were prevented. The activities of 11 individuals from Central Asia linked to terrorism were also disrupted.
The strengthening of the state border has reduced the number of violators by one and a half times, while the volume of seized goods and material values has increased by 20%.
However, the situation with drugs remains tense: in 2024, 1700 kilograms of drugs were seized, and in 2025 this figure rose to 3600 kilograms. The number of arrests increased from 2600 to 4500, and the number of closed underground drug laboratories rose from 8 to 15.
The problem of synthetic drug use among youth also remains relevant. In 2025, more than 180 kilograms of such substances and over 1 million psychotropic drugs were seized.
As for corruption, cases of abuse continue in government structures. In 2025, 1083 employees of government agencies involved in corrupt crimes were dismissed, of which 661 were brought to criminal responsibility.
