During the conversation, the minister thanked UN agencies for their support in implementing reforms in healthcare, including the development of a National Action Plan aimed at ensuring medical and sanitary safety, improving legislation in public health, as well as programs to enhance the accessibility of medical services and readiness for emergencies.
Kanibek Dosmambetov also presented the main priorities of the new composition of his ministry. The main task is to focus on disease prevention and transition towards building a healthy society. Key areas identified include the prevention of non-communicable diseases, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening immunization, protecting the health of mothers and children, reducing maternal mortality, enhancing epidemiological surveillance, and continuing reforms in the healthcare system.
The discussion also touched on the development of digital technologies, including the implementation of electronic medical records, the development of telemedicine, and the establishment of a situational center for rapid response to challenges.
The minister expressed interest in receiving support from the UN system for equipping medical institutions with modern equipment, expanding internship and training programs for healthcare workers abroad, as well as exchanging international experience.
Antje Grawe confirmed the UN system's readiness to continue and deepen cooperation with the Ministry of Health. She noted that Kyrgyzstan is participating in a global digital transformation program with UN support and expressed a desire to assist in the areas of healthcare digitalization, immunization, maternal and child health protection, reproductive health, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Additionally, strategic planning for the UN system for 2026-2027 and the preparation of a new framework cooperation document for 2028-2032 were discussed.
