According to data from the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF), in 2025, there were 1 million 165 thousand 676 cases of hospitalization recorded in hospitals in Kyrgyzstan that operate under contracts with the MHIF.

Interestingly, among these cases, over 419 thousand, which accounts for 36%, were for children under 18 years old.

The conditions for providing medical services are as follows:

- For children under 6 years old: Under the State Guarantees Program, these children are exempt from any additional payments. Treatment, laboratory and diagnostic studies, as well as medications from the List of Essential Medicines, are provided free of charge.

- For children aged 6 to 18 years: This group is subject to average additional payments, the amount of which depends on the type of department (therapeutic or surgical) and the level of the medical institution.

The procedure for planned hospitalization includes:

1. The presence of a referral from a family doctor or pediatrician assigned to a specific location.

2. Providing the child's birth certificate.

If there is no referral, planned treatment is paid at the maximum rate at the medical institution's cash desk. In the case of emergency hospitalization, when the call is made through the ambulance service, a referral is not required, and assistance is provided without delay.
