The Central Election Commission of Russia will participate in monitoring the conduct of the referendum on the new constitution in Kazakhstan. This was announced by the chairman of the CEC, Nurlan Abdirov. A total of foreign observers from 38 countries and 11 international organizations will arrive in the country.

According to Nurlan Abdirov, representatives of the central electoral bodies from 15 countries will participate in monitoring the referendum. Among them will be the chairpersons of election commissions from countries such as Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkey. He emphasized the importance and effectiveness of cooperation in this area.

The referendum on the new Constitution is scheduled for March 15. The initiator of the changes is the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Among the proposed reforms are the transition to a unicameral parliament and the establishment of a single seven-year term for the president. These changes will affect 84% of the provisions of the country's fundamental law. The text of the new Constitution was published on February 12.
