In the Issyk-Ata district, law enforcement officials detained a truck driver suspected of causing a fatal hit-and-run involving a teenager. This was reported by the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of the Chui region.
The incident occurred on the night of January 1 at around 00:50 on the 23 km + 850 m of the Bishkek–Torugart highway. A red truck struck a cyclist and fled the scene. Unfortunately, the teenager died at the scene from the injuries sustained.
In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning violations of traffic safety rules. During operational activities, it was established that the hit-and-run was committed by a SHACMAN brand vehicle.
The suspect turned out to be a 28-year-old citizen R.B., residing in the village of Krasnaya-Rechka, who is currently placed in a temporary detention facility.
It is known that the victim was a 13-year-old resident of the village of Dmitrievka, N.A., who had left on his bicycle that night to meet friends in the city of Kant. The teenager was riding along the edge of the road when the truck, moving into the third lane, struck him.
The investigation is ongoing.
