
Every day, between 150 and 200 vehicles passed through the checkpoints.
Employees of the weight and dimension control on the Bishkek - Osh highway were detained on suspicion of corruption, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
According to law enforcement agencies, the suspects regularly extorted money from truck drivers. The amounts of bribes ranged from 1,000 to 5,000 soms for the opportunity to allow a vehicle exceeding the permissible weight to pass without formalizing the corresponding violations.
A criminal case has been initiated in accordance with Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning the abuse of official powers. During operational activities, the following individuals were detained: A.Z. (born in 1991), S.U. (born in 1981), A.A. (born in 1998), A.R. (born in 1994), M.M. (born in 1979), T.T. (born in 1973), and A.B. (born in 1994).
The investigation is ongoing.
