According to reports, the majority of foreign participants in the hostilities hold passports from the USA or European countries. Since the beginning of the conflict, which started on October 7, 2023, sources indicate that the death toll in Gaza exceeds 72,061 people.
International human rights organizations are raising questions about holding foreign military personnel accountable for their involvement in alleged war crimes in the region. Some of them have shared videos on social media demonstrating their actions.
Al Jazeera also reports that at least 12,135 US citizens are serving in the ranks of the Israeli army, which is the highest figure. Additionally, 1,207 servicemen hold citizenship from the USA, Israel, and another country.
France ranks second with 6,127 citizens, followed by Russia with 5,067. The Israeli army also includes 3,901 German citizens, 3,210 Ukrainians, 1,686 British, and 1,675 Romanians.
Uzbekistan ranks 27th in terms of its citizens in the Israeli armed forces among 126 countries. 264 people hold dual citizenship (Uzbekistan and Israel), and another 5 have multiple citizenships:
- Kazakhstan - 189 people (dual citizenship), 3 people (multiple);
- Kyrgyzstan - 52 people (dual citizenship), 3 people (multiple);
- Turkmenistan - 31 people (dual citizenship), 2 people (multiple);
- Tajikistan - 8 people (dual citizenship).
It is important to note that the legislation of all Central Asian countries provides for criminal penalties for serving in foreign armed forces and mercenarism.
