On December 25, the head of the Bishkek Department of Internal Affairs, Azamat Toktonaliev, commented to the editorial office of "AKIpress Digest" regarding a high-profile crime involving a former inspector of the Bishkek Traffic Police, U.B., born in 1977.

On December 23, on her birthday, a resident of the capital, U.Z., born in 1978, was shot in an apartment in a high-rise building on Bokonbaeva Street. The incident occurred after an argument with her ex-husband in the context of divorce proceedings.

The next day, December 24, Toktonaliev shared details with journalists that sparked public resonance.

He emphasized that law enforcement agencies do not conceal suspects in serious crimes, including those who previously worked in the police. According to Toktonaliev, at the time of the incident, they had no information that the suspect was a police officer. However, according to his relatives, it turned out that he served in the Traffic Police until 2019, after which he retired. He is currently working as a fitness trainer, as seen from information on social media.

The head of the Department of Internal Affairs reported that the investigation is already at the stage of gathering sufficient evidence. He added that the suspect provided detailed information about all the circumstances of the incident during the investigative actions.

Toktonaliev also noted that all reports of domestic violence are documented, and appropriate measures are taken. "All reports are under my personal control — from the beginning until the case is fully resolved. We pay special attention to calls related to domestic violence. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ulan Niyazbekov, constantly gives strict instructions on this topic at meetings," he assured.
