In the Batken region, local drug enforcement officers conducted a series of operational-search activities aimed at combating illegal drug trafficking in the region. This was reported by the regional police department.
During the operation, which took place in Kyzyl-Kiya, a foreigner identified as A. I., born in 1976, was detained. A personal search revealed that he was in possession of a drug—hashish—which was seized with the appropriate documentation.
Based on this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 283 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which pertains to "illegal production of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, and their analogs without the intent to sell."
During the interrogation, the detainee admitted that he had brought the drugs from his country.
