The Lenin District Court of Ivanovo (Russia) has sentenced two foreigners involved in a criminal organization engaged in drug trafficking. According to a press release from the regional court, among the convicted are a 31-year-old woman from Kyrgyzstan and a 32-year-old man from Tajikistan.

According to the case materials, the woman, who lived in the Moscow region, was involved in packaging large batches of narcotic substances. Her accomplice, in turn, was responsible for transportation and ensured the delivery of other group members who set up drug caches in Kostroma and Ivanovo.

During the court proceedings, the Kyrgyz woman admitted her guilt, expressed remorse, and actively cooperated with the investigation. However, the Tajik citizen refused to acknowledge his guilt.

Due to the presence of mitigating circumstances, the court sentenced the Kyrgyz woman to seven years and six months of imprisonment in a general regime colony, while the man received an 11-year prison sentence in a strict regime facility.

The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.
