Today, March 23, the Lenin District Court of Bishkek has started the judicial proceedings in the case of Mahabat Tajibek kyzy, a journalist from the "Ayt ait dese" project. This case was sent to court following the decision of the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan to review it in light of newly discovered circumstances.

Mahabat is participating in the hearing remotely via videoconference.

Only the judge, the lawyer, and the prosecutor are present at the preliminary hearing.

Recall that in January 2024, Mahabat Tajibek kyzy was detained along with ten colleagues from Temirov Live. They were charged with organizing mass riots. As a result of the judicial proceedings held on February 25, 2025, the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan reviewed the appeal of three of the eleven detained journalists and upheld the previous sentence: Mahabat received six years in prison, Azamat Ishenbekov received five years, and Aika Beishieva was found guilty and received three years of probation. Aktilek Kaparov, sentenced to three years of probation, did not appeal the court's decision. The other seven participants in the case were acquitted due to lack of evidence of a crime.

On March 10, the Supreme Court sent the case of Mahabat Tajibek kyzy for a new review.
