The detained judges are accused under Articles 336, Parts 1 and 2 "Corruption committed in the interests of an organized group or causing serious harm" and 352, Part 1 "Issuance of a knowingly unlawful judicial act" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The list of the arrested includes:
- Saniya Branchayeva;
- Janil Mambetaly;
- Kaysyn Abakirov.
Additionally, prosecutor M.D.I. has also been taken into custody, charged with aiding corruption and participating in the issuance of unlawful decisions (Part 4 of Article 41, Parts 1-2 of Article 336, Part 1 of Article 352 of the Criminal Code of the KR).
Lawyer J.S.T. also ended up in pre-trial detention, accused under articles related to aiding corruption and wrongful judicial acts (Part 4 of Article 41, Parts 1-2 of Article 336, Part 4 of Article 41, Article 352 of the Criminal Code of the KR).
The case concerns 41-year-old taxi driver Kumarbek Abdyrov, who is suspected of committing a series of rapes and murders of women. Among the incidents is the attempted murder of a 21-year-old girl in 2015. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
