From October 29 to November 30, 2025, the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers will temporarily close two border crossing points on the border with Belarus — "Mėdininkai" and "Šalčininkai." This information was received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, despite the restrictions, some groups of citizens can still pass through the "Mėdininkai" checkpoint. The exceptions include:

diplomatic staff and couriers of diplomatic mail;

persons in transit to Kaliningrad or departing from there;

citizens of Lithuania and EU countries, as well as foreigners with temporary residence permits in Lithuania and holders of humanitarian visas returning to the Republic of Lithuania.
Amid these restrictions, there is a gathering of citizens, including Kyrgyzstani nationals, waiting for the opportunity to cross the border with Belarus.
In light of the measures introduced, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic strongly recommends that Kyrgyz citizens in Lithuania plan alternative routes for leaving the country in advance, take into account the existing restrictions, and avoid participating in unauthorized events and protests.

For consular assistance, Kyrgyz citizens in Lithuania should contact the "hotlines":

Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic: +996 999 312 002

Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Belarus (Minsk): +375 25 904 54 10; email: [email protected].
