The Supreme Court Launches Live Broadcast of Open Court Sessions for the First Time

In Kyrgyzstan, the Supreme Court has announced the launch of a pilot program that will allow for the live streaming of court sessions. The relevant information was provided by the court's press service.

This project is being implemented in accordance with the latest amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and as part of efforts to reduce bureaucracy in government agencies. Video recordings of sessions will begin in November-December and will cover various categories of cases.

According to information from the Supreme Court, the initiative aims to enhance the transparency and accessibility of justice for citizens. Article 290 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic allows for online streaming of sessions in real time at the request of participants in the process or by court decision, including broadcasts on television, radio, and the internet.

All recordings of the sessions will be available for viewing on the Supreme Court's YouTube channel titled "Жогорку сот Верховный суд" (Supreme Court). People will be able to observe real court proceedings right from their homes.

The court emphasizes that the materials are intended solely for educational purposes. Their commercial use or distribution without appropriate permission is prohibited. Filming will be conducted in strict accordance with the law, with court permission obtained and the interests of justice taken into account.

According to the authors of the initiative, this project is expected to contribute to the enhancement of citizens' legal culture and improve trust in the judicial system.
