Russian authorities plan to develop proposals regarding mandatory pre-trial resolution of family disputes using mediation. This was reported by TASS.

According to the publication's information, the government has approved a plan for the implementation of family and demographic policy.

The proposed legislative changes will include the suspension of civil case proceedings during mediation, as well as the introduction of a mandatory pre-trial procedure for resolving family conflicts using mediation.

In addition to this, the changes imply a mandatory meeting with a mediator as part of the pre-trial process, especially if children are involved in the disputes.

A federal executive authority will be appointed for these activities, which will take responsibility for the formation and implementation of state policy, legal regulation, and information in the field of mediation. It is also planned to create a single registry of mediators engaged in mediation, including the resolution of family disputes and conflicts involving children.

The initiative will be implemented from 2026 to 2027.
