For 35 years, Zhiparkul and her neighbors lived in an old barrack located just two meters from the railway. This building was in a deplorable state and could collapse at any moment. Last year, railway employees informed them that the land on which their house stood belonged to them and demanded that they vacate it. This news caused fear among the six families who did not know where to go. In response, they decided to turn to the city mayor.
The local authorities responded to their request and built new, modern houses for the six families in one of the recently created residential areas. “In an instant, we found ourselves in a completely different life. Now we live in spacious and bright houses equipped with all the necessary amenities. One of the neighbors, who suffers from health problems, also moved with her daughter to the new house,” Zhiparkul said. She noted that Balikchy, which had previously not received due attention, is gradually beginning to develop and change.
According to information from local authorities, power lines have already been installed in the new residential area, and clean water has been provided. There are also plans to repair internal roads and launch a minibus route for the convenience of residents.
