Secretary of State: The awarding of state honors must adhere to sequence and traditions

Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic Arslan Koichiev spoke on Kyrgyz Radio, emphasizing the importance of adhering to sequence and traditions when awarding state honors. He noted that this is a symbol of the continued development of the nation and statehood.
Koichiev also expressed the opinion that changes are needed in the existing award system, adding that it should be elevated to a new qualitative level. “Criticism that undeserving individuals receive awards is heard quite often. There are opinions about the need to revise the selection criteria. I share this point of view and am one of those advocating for reform of this system. If we do not start making changes, dissatisfaction among the population will only grow,” he said.
Furthermore, the Secretary of State highlighted that the proposed reform project has sparked active discussions, particularly regarding the titles of "People's Writer" and "People's Poet of Kyrgyzstan." “I fully support the views of the authors of these proposals. The names of such great poets as Aaly Tokombaev and Suyunbai Eraliyev are foundational to our literature and culture. The loss of their honorary titles would be inappropriate. Recently, there has been a critical attitude towards these high awards due to a decline in standards. It is necessary to significantly raise the requirements for candidates,” added Arslan Koichiev.
