The final in the 60 kg weight category took place on December 13 in Dubai. In the first round, Holokov had the advantage, while the second round went to Shumkov. The main five judges could not reach a unanimous decision, and two neutral referees were brought in to resolve the situation. As a result, the victory was awarded to Shumkov by a narrow margin of 4:3.
After the tournament, a video surfaced online showing the Russian biting his opponent's ear at the end of the third round. However, during the fight and immediately after it, Holokov and his team did not raise this issue.
The recording of the incident made it to the broadcast, and at the press conference, Shumkov himself admitted that he bit his opponent. He explained his actions by the intense emotional pressure, noting that he did not intend to cause harm, and the bite did not result in any health consequences for Holokov. Shumkov also believes that this episode did not affect the outcome of the fight.
IBA announced the start of an investigation into the incident and stated that Shumkov and the Boxing Federation of Russia would face appropriate consequences.
On December 23, Umar Kremlov published a video on social media announcing the final decision regarding this matter.
Shumkov will be fined 50% of his prize money, which amounted to $300,000 for the victory.
Additionally, Kremlov proposed to hold a rematch between the boxers over eight rounds for the IBA Pro title.
How is Kyrgyzstan connected to this event? In the final between Shumkov and Holokov, the referee was Bekzad Abdurashidov from Kyrgyzstan.
