Erlan Sherov won the gold medal at the European Open Cup
Erlan Sherov, an international-class sports master from Kyrgyzstan, has won the gold medal at the European Open Cup in judo. This was reported by sports journalist Tahir Gafurov on social media here.

The competition took place in the capital of Slovenia, the city of Ljubljana.

According to Gafurov, in the first round, Erlan passed his opponent by draw. In the 1/16 finals, he won against Belgian Karl Fubert, and in the 1/8 finals, he defeated Lithuanian Augustas Slizerinets. In the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyz athlete overcame French judoka Eniel Keroli. On his way to the final, he defeated Egyptian Abdallah Abdelsameh, and in the decisive match, he triumphed over Russian David Karapetyan, thus becoming the champion in the under 90 kilograms category.

Erlan Sherov is a graduate of the Specialized Children's and Youth Olympic Reserve School and is also the winner of the 2023 Asian Championship.
